  4. Little Update

    Hey guys:

I know I’ve been MIA but like I said in one of my previous post, I’ve really been focusing on graduate school and studying for the GMAT (which is kicking my butt by the way). Add the fact that im in my cousin wedding which is next month and still looking for a job you can imagine how my time is spent. With that being said I did get some great news last weekend. I got a random text message from a MUA asking me if I was free to help her out on a fashion shoot. Unfortunately I couldn’t make it, but I did tell her that I would love to assist with any future projects. When I asked her how she got my number she told me she was referred to me from another MUA who was got my number from a MUA name Jennifer who I had worked with last year. I would so shocked that my name had been passed on to two MUAs. It really made me feel good to know that Jennifer thought highly of me to refer me to another Makeup Artist. It things like that that I truly appreciate and thank God for.

This week is first IMAT expo in NY and sadly I will not be attending. When I first heard that IMAT was coming to NY I was so excited, but when I looked at the exhibitors list many of the exhibitors didn’t really excite me, not to mention half those exhibitors with be at The Makeup Show next month. So instead of going to IMAT I will be taking a pro class at MAC and saving my money for The Makeup Show. If any of you guys are going to IMAT let me know how it went.

    Until next time…..

  5. Valentine’s Day Banquet

Just wanted to share with you guys the look I did for my aunt yesterday for her Valentine’s Day Banquet. I used my Sleek Makeup Pallet in Bad Girl, Sparkle and Original. Sleek contour pallet in dark, Face atelier foundation in number 11, L’oreal Voluminous mascara in Black, Revlon creme blush in Elated and NYX liner in deep purple topped of with a sheer purple lipgloss.

  6. Gospel Make Over

Last week Saturday I had the pleasure of doing the makeup for two ladies from my church. It was for the Special Love Gospel Concert, showcasing the women new Gospel singles. I must admit I was little nervous to do their makeup because it was my first time doing makeovers for members of my church. Not many members from my church know I am a makeup artist except the ones I am friends with on Facebook, so this was a huge deal for me. I really focused on the ladies eyes, using various shades of blue eyeshadow which I used from my Sleek pallets. I also contoured their faces to give them a more sculpted look and added lashes. Both ladies loved their looks, one of lady’s husband couldn’t stop staring at her, so that made me feel really good. During intermission people came up to me and gave me compliments and asked for business cards. Overall the night turned out wonderful! Below are some pictures, my canon didn’t do the makeup the justice that it deserves but they still came out alright.

  9. I Hate Washing Brushes

I believe every makeup artist would agree with me when I say that washing brushes is the most tedious job EVER! and the more brushes you have the more washing you have to do.

This pass weekend i had two makeup gigs, so I had to wash my professional brushes each night not to mention own personal brushes. Once the washing process is done, its like a weight lifted off my shoulders until the next time I see my dirty brushes sitting on my vanity begging to be washed again.
